ANZAC DAY - In remembrance of all those fallen - Lest We Forget.
#1
Thursday is a national holiday here in New Zealand. It's called Anzac Day and is a day of remembrance. Poppies are traditionally worn here. In Australia it is sprigs of rosemary. Hence having both as a mark of respect on my avatar.
Here is an informative wee website about the significance of Anzac Day here in New Zealand.
So, who will be attending their local service . We'll be there at our wee memorial which sits on the green lawn outside our volunteer library. The bagpipes always make me cry.

Some of you may remember our own wee BE story about a lost soldier & the beautiful photos that were taken and shared with his family when his resting place was found.
Link to the thread HERE & HERE.
Mrs Fychan will kindly be doing the honours for this man and his family on the day.
I shall think of him , just as I think of our own family members who have fought long and hard in wars.

Thanks for doing this Bevs.
Might be nice if we could all change our avatars for a day or two.

Doing the dawn service at Paraparaumu which we have done every year since coming here.
Sorry, but I still haven't got my head around importing an avatar.

My avatar is a picture of one of the poppies a child made at our Oscar programme today. We made Anzac biscuits and poppies. We had a treasure hunt for poppies, NZ flags and letters that spelt Anzac. A lovely day.
