Default Would you marry a man with a weird surname?

I suppose the answer is yes you just wouldn't change yours to his after the marriage Years ago I was nearly set up on a date with a guy called something B'stard, I refused to go I have no idea why I remembered this today

My wife married me lol. But she didn't change her surname.

I had a good friend whose surname was Roast and I did my C.I.D attachment with bloke called Kettle!

we have a member of our family who was a Boyle but change to our family name, wonder why

I don't see that it matters? Women do not have to take their husband's surname on marriage. We do not have to be the possession of our husbands, after all Mrs Smith is just an abbreviation of Mistress of Smith.

Whilst I appreciate that I may be in a minority in this view (and no doubt seen as some sort of hairy-legged, man-hating feminist. Again! ) I do not understand why so many women change their own, perfectly good, name on marriage.

I didn't want to change mine I can assure you, but got worn down by my family who are a bunch of control freaks, didn't change it the first time I got married

I know lots of women who did not change their name upon marriage, (myself included), so don't think you are in the minority on this one. Mind you I am surprised how some men do feel quite offended if their intened does not take their name..

that is just cruel! we had a family at the clinic I worked at called Ball, they had a little girl called Crystal, honestly!

My cousin married a Beauglehole. She changed her name back to her maiden name when she divorced him but still has three children who suffer the huniliation of being called Trumpetarse.

it's a funny world we live in! we had a patient at the clinic called Ronald McDonald too, poor guy was named well before McDonalds became popular though
