Sunshine Coast - Mountain Creek

Hello all
Am presently investigating the pro's and cons of moving to the Sunshine Coast, particulary Mountain Creek. One concern is that I hear about is that employment opportunities are not great in the immediate areas.
Can anyone tell me if Brisbane centre is commutable from Mountain Creek?
Thanks

Plenty of secretarial work up here and plenty of things to do to kick back. Buy a boat and some rods and spend your time out on the ocean :-)

It takes approximately 1.1 hrs to my office. However, my office is just off the Gateway Motorway northside which is a good run from the Sunshine Coast. If I were to go to the City everyday, I would probably be looking at another twenty mins as I would go via Gympie Arterial taking me through a more built up area.

We live in Buderim which is near Mountain Creek which for some reason seems to be a mecca for Brits - i think its something to do with the school? I was in the Woolworths there today and all i heard were British accents - except the checkout people who were all aussies. Its also the only supermarket i've seen where they sell Heinz beans in a specially branded "British recipe" can with the contents being EXACTLY the same as the normal aussie can - and all made in New Zealand anyway! Marketing is a wonderful thing
We've just been house hunting and i will say that property in Mountain Creek is vastly overpriced at the moment - similar houses in the nearby areas are $50-100,000 cheaper - which is about 25% difference at the range we were looking at. I guess if you have kids and have to be in the school area then you have to buy - and thats EXACTLY what the local estate agents are banking on - they see all Brits as cash cows coming over with loads of money, little local knowledge and easy to persuade. The latest thing here is that the supply is low and all houses are selling within a week of going on the market - dont believe a word of it and dont fall for the hype
I think if you want a true Aussie experience you might like to try another area

It is about an hour and a half into the City as a commute - rest of the time about an hour. Easy drive though - quick access onto the Sunshine motorway then straight down the M1 (Bruce Highway)

Buderim is more expensive than Mountain Creek, the only way you will find similar houses cheaper is by moving out to Sippy Downs/Chancellor park or other areas further away from the beach.
You are bang on about the British accents in the shops!
The houses are selling pretty quickly compared to a few years ago.
There are bargains to be found just don't listen to the real estate guy's, you wouldn't trust them back home either, would you?
It's a great place to live and once you have a job there is no looking back.
