opening a bank account - non resident
Hi
Me and MOH are British citizens who retired early & live permanently in Portugal. We have an aus dollar investment based in Perth and would like to draw down some dollars from this to open a local bank account and then use some of the balance for a long holiday in australia. I've looked at bank accounts via the web and they all seem to say you must be moving to aus to live/ to work /or for education to open an account. Can anyone advise?

You might need to visit a branch in person, and ask about a Premier account. If the amount is substantial enough, they'all open you up an account. Stay away from the Aussie banks. They live in a little bubble.
