Some tourists here have managed to inflate the period to a whole month.I met and old guy in Calingut who has bought a case of Honeybee and Gin just in case !From my own understanding there is going to a period of 4 days when the lot will be closed but this is Goa and there are always ways to get a drink.To your earlier question regarding tastes J5...The Russians do prefer Old Monk but as to the Indians drinking beer,but from observations its mostly strong beers.Dont know about the English and Honeybee though.Its a pretty nasty substance all in all.....
I went to get a couple of cases of tuborg from my local wholesaler yesterday and they had none.Suppliers are not delivering the quantities at present!!!!!!!!

I went to my local booze shop a couple of days ago and was told that in future (until elections) I can only have one case of beer at a time - a chap could die of thirst; and I don't even have a vote!

There will also be a period - probably from 1st or 2nd to 6th March which will be completely dry (and from recent past experience there won't be any way around it).

In the same paper - Brit tourist numbers:
3 years ago over 1 lakh
2 years ago 77,000
last year 57,000
(at last some realistic looking numbers!)
In any other country a near 50% drop in numbers would result in questions being asked, and heads rolling.
Good job tourists never drink after 10 pm or they be even more upset this year <bg>

Anyone got any idea how the VoA countries were chosen, it seems a strange set: France, Germany and Spain but not Holland, Portugal or the UK. Specifying Schengen countries would at least be consistent.

And we all know why most British tourists have bolted, but I don't think they really care.............a fast buck from the short-term two-weekers is all they seem to care about.

My query "can this be true" in a previous post referred to shortages, not who drinks what, and the truth is now being confirmed from many sources......

Maybe big signs saying "Goa-Closed for business" would help?
Adding in this ominous little item;

Anyone still want to put their money on this being a rumour started by a few tourists?

Went back today - they were open but only Kingfisher 'pints' - said he was lucky to get those and doesn't expect regular supplies until after the election as the EC/ Excise aren't signing off for the wholesalers to release stock.

Apart from some duty free, we have to get an amount in Canacona and hide it for the border.
