My wife has just started receiving her U.K. pension and has received her E121 but it doesn't mention me - I am 63. How do I arrange for myself to be covered? Up to now I have had a SIPS card which I had to apply for on the strength of her working and paying spanish social security contributions.

Get in touch with the DWP and they should send you one. They don't always send out dependent's E121s without asking.

I spoke to the DWP pensions helpline and they are going to send an amended E121 with me on it. The interesting thing for anyone claiming their pension is that he said that my wife should have been asked if anyone else should be included on the E121. The chap I spoke to said -"oh no - they didn't forget again to ask about dependent(s) on the E121.................."

So anyone claiming their pension should make sure they tell them about anyone to be included on the E121.

We received our nice new forms "S1" (replaces the old E121) and went off to the local INSS - fortunately didn't have to wait too long. However the functionario almost immediately pointed out that he could not accept the forms because at the section "1.7 Status", non of the boxes had been marked.

I phoned DWP overseas and the first reaction was "there is no Section 1.7 Status" ??!! After a few minutes on hold he came back and said "oh - O.K. we will send you out new forms............" . He had no idea why section 1.7 had not been completed.

Anyway I am posting this because I assume their computer must have churned out lots of forms with this error. If anyone else receives an S1 - check Section 1.7 - if none of the boxes is marked, don't bother queuing at the INSS. Unfortunately you are not allowed to mark these forms in any way so you can't tick the box yourself.

anyone have full undertanding of E106? mine runs out December this year and I was under the impression this covered me for all healthcare here in Spain. Recently I had a perforated eardrum and after many visits to local doctor was sent to hospital to see a specialist (sip card provided). I had a follow up appointment on friday with a specialist and was told to go back on 20th August - here's the problem - can't get an appointment as I don't have a european health card! I telephoned Newcastle and they said health card was only for holidays and in fact the 106 should cover me, I don't speak Spanish to explain this and the health centre doesn't do English. I don't understand how I have seen a specialist twice and now they won't entertain me. Anyone had any experiences of refusal on E106?

As far as I know an E106 only covers you for up to two years if you have enough stamps paid previously in the UK.
It is only full cover if you are a pensioner.
You will need to take out Private Health cover.

My E106 expires December this year, I am aware I will need to get my own healthcare then, but what do I do now? I have a 106 and can't get to see a specialist as I don't have a european health card - Newcastle tells me this is only for holidays, I thought the E106 covered me in Spain for the same level of care in UK

The doctor should still refer you to the specialist, unless he thinks it will run out before you get the appointment.
Remind him you are covered by the E106 and your healthcare is paid for by the UK.

My wife got her E121 in 2008, registered at INSS and then with a doctor - no problem. Then we discovered that I could be on it as a dependent. Phoned Newcastle, got new E121 in January this year, went to INSS. Waited until last month (was told there could be a 6 month wait) to be told A) they had no record of my application and B) there is a new system whereby you take E121 straight to health centre. Since original E121 lost in Fuengirola INSS, phoned Newcastle, got a new copy of E121 last week, went to Health Centre - they said to go to INSS - they know nothing about new system!!! To confuse me further my forms are for anE121, no mention of S1, even the letter accompanying the form says E121.....HELP!
