We were planning to do same thing....Land then look at selling up and getting job.
However turmoil as Job came really quick out of the blue and we are in a race against time to sell, without giving it away. Did not want to sell before we were legal just in case - however maybe it is worth taking a chance for others.
I just rely on daily prayers now to get me through it all.

We had to redecorate as we had rented it out to some very messy people
and we had a couple who were very keen and came back for 3 viewings the other day til the neighbours told them the roof leaked
a problem that was fixed ages ago. Agents seem ok doing the best they can we dont live in the house at the mo but my friend keeps it very clean and tidy

Yes you could, immigration will ask you what your world wide assets are but you won't be asked to show proof...you already did that when you applied to emigrate.
It's not a good time to sell at the moment we landed and flew back to sort the house out and ended up renting it. It's a difficult situation to be in but personally I wouldn't go down the route of borrowing money to get here...I'd land, activate your PRs and go back to sort out what you can.
The worst thing you could do is begin your new life in debt, the transition of moving is difficult enough without having further worries hanging over you.
Hope you get things sorted soon

It is highly unlikely that they will ask, and if they do they *may* accept a mortgage statement and a home valuation as proof of funds but there are no guarantees. I personally wouldn't risk landing without proof in the form of a bank statement showing an account with enough cash in it. It's a low risk, so the OP's tolerance may be higher.

CHC in the UK accepted home equity at the application stage, but I think this was more unofficial policy rather than in their own guidelines. The funds are supposed to be unencumbered - i.e. liquid and not owed to anyone.

We were asked to show proof of funds in December (bank statements), not a problem because we had the money. I personally wouldn't risk it, but each to their own.

My OH had a job to go to when we landed, 10 weeks in they let him go leaving us at our wits end. Luckily we had our settlement funds (cash) to fall back on but if we hadn't we would have had to return to the UK due to the rest of our equity being tied up in the house. Don't move unless you have a contingency plan in place, emigrating without adequate provisions in place is a disaster waiting to happen.

Don't do it unless you have settlement funds, you could be setting yourself up to fail before you even begin your new life.

When you get to immigration they will ask you about your funds but not everyone has had to provide proof (we didn't) however to be on the safe side I'd take your recent mortgage statement, you don't need anything from your estate agent or mortgage provider...have you done your goods to follow list?

I've just got to have a word with the neighbours now.
