Have been on Trip Advisor tonight looking at hotels in the Gold Coast as I want to do the theme parks and chill a bit.
None of them are getting really great reviews. I'd like 5 star. Do you have any suggestions?
Thought either the Sofitel or the Mariott.

Thanks for the link.
The hotels seem to advertise as being 5 star but in reality are only 4.
Just looking at a few days away with and to meet up with family.

My mate stayed at the Hilton in surfers and was very impressed with the hotel, If your after 5* go for the Palazzo Versace or Sheraton in Main Beach, both on seaworld drive

Isn't Palazzo supposed to be 6*? It looks very flashy and is in a nice location (read, well away from the craziness of surfers, yet close enough if you want to wander round that area at night)

Sofitel or Jupiters Casino in Broadbeach would be a good bet if you are looking to 'chill a bit'. Broadbeach is nowhere near as busy and noisy as Surfers, but does have a good selection of restaurants, bars and the beach is just as good as Surfers. And it's only 15 mins from the theme parks, and 5 min walk to casino. Its much better all round in my opinion. Its also got some excellent quality short term self catering apartments which may be another option worth considering.

Not sure what star it is but Sea World Nara Resort is a good start if you want theme parks. Most of the other decent ones have been mentioned already - Hilton, Marriot Courtyard, the other Marriot on the way into Surfers is better, Sheraton, Versace, Legends and another good resort is the one in Sanctuary Cove - can't remember name though.

I'd definately go for the Palazzo Versace too.
Out of the hustle and bustle, total luxury and in nice area.

I stayed at the Mantra Legends in Surfers Paradise. It's a 4.5 star I think, very nice, pretty cheap, in the centre of everything and the bus to the theme parks was about a minute walk and the beach was a minute in the other direction.

Marriot is nice, great pool, stayed there with the kids for a week when we first arrived and again just recently just with my husband for a weekend break, visited a friend recently when she was staying in the Hyatt in Sanctuary Cove, again a great pool, very kiddy orientated and probably ideally situated if its the theme parks your visiting though a bit out of the way if your looking to go out in Broadbeach/surfers.
