Hi Folks,
Its been a while since I was last on here but we have been trying to deal with the disappointment of our move to Canada coming to an abrupt end!
As some of you will know we went for the recce trip last Nov/Dec and all of hubbies interviews went great and he was offered all jobs there and then. When we returned he received 3 written job offers just after Xmas so, he signed on the dotted line for one haulage company in NS.
They then applied for the LMO - however Service Canada said the job needed to be re-advertised locally!! The company in question did so AND they had an over whelming response from Canadian truckers!
Therefore the employer cannot meet the requirements for Service Canada - economic downturn has been blamed!!!
So on that note we have no option but to either call it a day or try again in 6 months or so?? Maybe the economy will have improved by then?
The other 2 haulage companies where in NB and after some soul searching we decided this is where we did NOT want to be! So it`s pointless approaching them again to see if the "downturn" has effected them - at a guess I would say it has?
It goes without saying we are totally gutted, especially my 2 girls. After all the hoops we have jumped through, not to mention all the money and time we have invested in all of this, to be told the chances are even slimmer than they where 20 months ago!
If it wasn`t for BAD LUCK we would have no luck at all.......
However, if things are still the same around Xmas - New Year, then I hope to purchase a holiday home in NS, then at least we would still have some connection with Canada - if only for a few months a year?
If anyone else is/was experiencing the same probs then please let me know your thoughts - at least I would know I am not alone in this?
On a final note I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to those of you that have responded to some of my other posts in the past, your views and comments where welcomed. I don`t think I will be on here very much from now on as it`s heartbreaking to read that many of you are on your way.
Once again thanks for your support.

HI Twink
don't give up, you can apply now for Community Identified Nominee Program.
We did it, as you have already been here for a recci, you have your contacts. Get in touch with the local RDA in the area you want to go to, in our case, Margot from Corda in Truro. Download the forms, fill them in and off you go!! you don't have to be skilled for this route!!! it is so simple, if we can get it, so can you.
With their nominee, that can take up to 3 months to get, you can get a letter of support. With this you don't need an LMO. With the letter, you can come straight away and get your work permit stamped at the airport. Simple!!!
If you are not aware of this, I hope this helps.
good luck!!

NB is a perfectly great place to set up home and bring up a family.
I wouldn't write if off and it is only 4 hours drive into NS if you have family or other reasons for being there.

Hi,
There is nothing wrong with NB what so ever. We liked what we saw but, we only spent 48 hrs there. We stayed over night in a little place called MacAdam. In fact we made some lovely friends there.
We spent so much time travelling we hardly saw anything but trees!!

One of our friends here actually rang up to arrange the interview himself
and it eventually worked, they gave him the interview, turned him down in favour of a local person. They then discovered that persons inexperience was causing a lot of pain. Then phone up offered him the job!So if the woodstock job is still advertised, call them up and tell them you want it.

6 months ago we thought that we couldnt do it. The List meant that we had our application returned. It was like a slap in the face.
We looked at all other avenues, even going over and trying to get a job and just cutting ties here if we had to.
My husband badgered his company into a transfer. They have NEVER done this before. If someone wanted to move then they had to do everything themselves, then maybe they would offer them a job that side.
I know your circumstances are different but what I am trying to say is dont give up. You can make it happen. Yes it can be extremely difficult but is'nt everything in life?
My husband has been there 3 months now and I am flying over on 26th June. I still think things are going to be difficult, still lots to sort both here and there but my philosophy was to just "get there". We can then sort things out - hopefully lol.
Good luck to you and your family.
Tina
