DON'T give up
Back in 2007 i agreed to take my first trip to canada via hubbys work (only took him 7yrs to talk me into it)
So 2 weeks before we went we was advised that he would never get offered a job as they was finishing 50% of the workers at the end of the month, but don't say anything as its union, what a bomb shell to throw at us
So we took the trip, loved it, i fell in love even though it was -35
Came back and tried to get employers to talk to us, arranged everything and went back in august to a more industrial area, still loved it although different location, but all the employers was wanting us as PR and wouldnt do the LMO, so felt like was going totally MAD, meanwhile britain started going down, return hubby took redundancy and took temp job to last us, booked another trip, this time to alberta and i was like a mad women making sure that everything worked out, made him wear suit, made sure everything was just right (ask burtonbunch
)......end of trip hubby was the owner of 6 job offers
So after excepting the one that felt right we sold up and moved over, the other employers was on the back burner as they said that if things didnt work out then they would still have him, so was totally thrilled.
Everything happens for a reason, sometimes it bloody hurts, but maybe that was never going to be right for you, we set off saying we would never live in alberta or BC, now 8mths of being here i love it, i have settled well and so have my family...............
We have made some awesome friends, love our new house, love our neighbours
and think we are really lucky that we found such a lovely area, All thanks goes to a small hand full of people who helped us when we thought life was never going to be in canada
SO DON'T give up, rest if you must, but don't you quit - As they say
Good Luck

Had job offer in Calgary (carpenter) last october, due to family crisis ( BIL missing then found drowned ) we delayed till march. By then the job was no longer available

During october and march we sold property etc to make sure we were ready to go!!! then the recession, no job.
Still want to go, but construction out there is not looking too good right now.
However there is the reality check that often on BE now, you read posts from people who did go and are now out of work, laid off or not getting enough hours to support themself. I imagine for many that will be a disaster
however we are still determined to get there, but it looks more likely to be when the economy picks up. I feel sick some days that we could have been living there by now, had we gone, if BIL hadnt died, however that did happen so here we are in Australia still

Hi Everyone,
Thank you all for your support - it has made me feel a little better. As some of you have mentioned the CI stream, this is what I will look into over the next few days and see where this could lead us?
Sorry for the delay in replying, as I have been in hospital having an operation on my foot!!!
The bandage makes my foot look like a golf club
I will get back to you all when I have read up on this route. Once again thank you to everyone for all your help and support...
