Hello,

Did they tell you what you failed on? Also to get the maximum 25 points do you need to sit the general or academic test?

Hi all,
i'm starting to revise for ielts booked on 19/4 and wondered if anyone could recommend what books to study from, I ordered one from my local library to save money but its pants!! Also if anyone has the offical study pack to sell please send me a PM. Been looking at various websites but I find hard copies more realistic, can anyone tell me if the examples in the official pack are set out in a similar way in the actual exam and if it was worth buying? Getting very worried now Have i got enough time left to study?
cheers and happy easter to all BE members

I initially bought a book, took my first test, passed three sections but scored 6.5 in the reading test. I then used www.scottsenglish.com and scored 8.5 in three areas and 9 in the other. The practice lab section was good and had lots of practice exams which were very similar to actual ielts as well as study tips. The only downside is that it is not free. Good luck, hope that is of some help.

People assume that with it being an English exam and being English it should be a doddle, but think again!!

The consultants have suggested on going down the State Sponsorship route and trying to get a job in my line of work "Metal Machinist - First Class" therefore would not need to sit this STUPID test!
Hello, do you have any idea how we would go about getting state sponsorship as a Metal Machinist 1st Class?

I think each state has its own web site and that will tell you which jobs are in demand for them. As a teacher I had to get my job trade assessed and then apply to the state of Victoria for sponsorship. Don't know if that is true for all jobs though. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

No matter how many times I went in for this I do not think I'll ever score highly on this section, no matter how much revision I do.

Question is what now?

Anyone else in the same position?
What is the IELTS test?

Thanks any help is useful. I'll have a look at all the state websites.
