Yes and no.....As far as I am aware we don't think...not going to let the terrorists dictate to me... we don't even consider there to be a terrorist threat, rightly or wrongly. Human nature.. do the smokers think that every puff of that ciggy is going to be the one that causes the cancer cell to grow?
We exist with a reasonable awareness of hazards, otherwise we would cross the road in front of HGVs and get splattered , but don't worry about whether we are going to be one of thos daily RTAs every time we get in a car or bus etc etc.

As for London being a target for terrorism, it has been as far back as I remember. I grew up in London in the 80s and London has been a target long before the radical islamic's. Do I let it dictate my life? as I said no, doesn't mean that I totally dismiss the idea.
tbh why I brought it up wasn't because ooh I'm scaredit was because it reminded me of something that happened on the tube involving my daughter (who wasn't brought up in London). But I decided against posting the whole story as it was irelavant to the OS.

They are using nitro oxide generally which is easy to get hold of and they beleive they are putting them through the air con system.... providing there is enough oxygen in the room it won't kill you. If there isn't it will. Easy to get hold of and is used quite a bit by criminals. Since many viruses etc in offices are passed through the air con systems, it wouldn't be hard to do it with other things. Unhealthy things air con systems are....
There again I would rather be knocked out and they steal what they want, than face an armed gang and they hurt you. They can take what they want as long as they don't injure anyone....

Heard a lot of stories like this on the CDS. I read an article by an expert who stated that it is virtually impossible as the amount of gas needed to stun people like this would not be able to be carried. I cannot remember where I read it last year but it had figures of how much gas would be needed for an average sized bedroom.
I think some people cannot believe that they didn't hear anything, don't believe everything you read in the newspapers.

They'd still need a hell of a lot of Nitrous Oxide to do the job. We carry the stuff at work - it's otherwise known as 'laughing gas'. It's effectiveness depends on your tolerance. I heard of gangs reported to have been doing this in South Africa and thought it was odd at the time. They supposedly steal it from hospitals and pipe it through into your house. I'd like to see a demonstration (without the robbery) just to see if it'd really work in a straightforward robbery.

Well they have a sense of humour then....get everyone laughing whilst you rob them.

Aparrently this happened round here a couple of weeks ago., and their were several of the 'normal' type burglaries. Some friends had burglars one night, they had left the upstairs doors open to let air through, and they came in, saw the bedroom door open withtwo people sleeping inside, they came downstairs, found THREE people sleeping in the lounge, and, because the front door was unlocked they just exited without taking anything. One of those in the lounge heard the door shut, but all he saw when looking out was two people disappearing round the corner. I suspect the burglars were more surprised than the occupiers. Most of the houses round here that have been targeted are holiday homes or holiday lets as they usually leave stuff aroung, residents usually put ant valuables away.

Hi Guys,
We were burgled just about 12 months ago now. Everyone asked if we were gassed at the time as we didn't hear a thing. It happened in the middle of the night, and even the dog didn't stir. They gain access by snapping the lock, easy peasy when you know how. All the locks are the same in Spain, so hard to prevent this happening. There is a small device you can buy to fit round the barrel of your lock to prevent this happening. We had a few sent over from the UK. My advice to all is check you have a good insurance policy. The Spanish rubbish we had only made an offer which didn't even cover goods stolen. We have now changed to HIFX who offer the sort of policy we were all used to having back in the UK. We certainly were NOT gassed, they on the other hand were very good at what they do.
Sleep well all!!

I would get rid of your dog if it didn't stir. I leave my doors open at night and the dog go out and checks all the time. Never had a problem in 4 years, doing that. I stayed with a guy in South Africa who also did the same and he had 5 German Shepherds and never had any problems either. The neighbours dogs also tend to warn if anyone is around. You can put door stops under the door which stop it opening, great for hotels as well. Bell over doors so you know when it opens, gravel around fences etc. Prickly bushes around peri-metres all act as deterrents. I don't even lock a car here, often leave it with windows open and come out and found the cars next to it with broken windows. I even left the keys in it once and went shopping in Fuengirola...there again I did have NI plates on it at the time, so probably thought it may blow up....

You're just a trouble maker
Anyway, back onto the subject of gassing - we've been victims ourselves - the whole family in fact!
It happened *today* in Thader, the shopping centre on the outskirts of Murcia.
With the recent light rain, the smell of the drains in the car park was absolutely unbearable in places. At one point, I could *taste* the smell.
We really felt completely gassed out by the time we made it into the shopping centre, I can tell you!
