If your looking at a WHV head for Perth.
There is a big shortage of brickies at the moment and in to the foreseeable future. Going rates are around $275-$325 a day

you can expect anything from $240-$320 a day.

we took one out last year, it will be paid off when im 75. according to my mortgage broker the banks cannot discriminate on age anymore and must just base it on your ability to pay.

if you want just a rough estimate im sure you will get it for next to nothing. if on the other hand you want a builder to go check your block work out your quantities sit through meetings with you...

there are no statuary checks done on housing in wa. the sparky is resp for the electrics the plumber for the plumbing etc.

theres not enough work out there for them to slow down. plus they get paid by stages and they want them up and paid for as quick as possible.

if your thinking of going in to new home builds be prepared for a lot of downtime. its very quiet out here. if it wasn't for the government building 600 odd new homes it would be even worse.

i heard peter collier talk on this yesterday. a lot of the jobs where in low paid areas to cover the loss to the mines. there have been protests over here from manufacturing industries abt not enough...
