In early 1998, I was one of the last people who got an actual EAD card at the POE. For a year or two after, you could still get an EAD stamp from JFK, but by 2001 they had completely discontinued...

To my knowledge, there are no fees associated with a derivative visa... regardless of visa type.

Whatever else you do, do not get yourself into a worse financial situation than you're currently in. There is no social safety net in the US and unless you're making a decent salary (using NYC...

If you're being transferred, why aren't they sending you over on an L-1 visa? It would seem to make more sense!
