Re: West Coast / Bay Area - Tips

Seems Trump like 'alternative facts' way of thinking is catching on.

Re: West Coast / Bay Area - Tips

I came here in 1970 do the math.

Re: West Coast / Bay Area - Tips

Quite my son lives there so I know it well. Nowhere within 50 miles of the coast is cheap in California. On the plus side I am quite property rich having bought my house many years ago. Maybe I'll...

Re: West Coast / Bay Area - Tips

You shouldn't presume that I am not, and in case you haven't noticed several other BE posters from the Bay Area are also considering moving away for much the same reasons.
It is OK to have a...

Re: West Coast / Bay Area - Tips

Maybe that's why he wants to move away from London. If I were to ever move back it certainly would not be London, and I'm originally from there.

Perhaps you can tell me if any of the points I've...

Re: West Coast / Bay Area - Tips

P.S. If someone is considering moving here they should be aware of the downside. The degradation and despair of your fellow citizens must be of some concern?

Re: West Coast / Bay Area - Tips

Thank you for your suggestion.
I don't dislike it I have very mixed feelings, love and hate. I have the disadvantage of knowing the city and how it was, and what it has become.

I had a very...

Re: West Coast / Bay Area - Tips

Good summary of the Bay Area, but.

Good luck finding a parking spot in Walnut Creek. A parking permit costs $105/mo and you will be on a wait list for one of those.
Lunardi's is a better bet...

I would presume if someone was asked to set up an office, all moving expenses would be paid by the company. My moving costs were paid for and I was hired in the UK.

I wouldn't dispute one...

Re: West Coast / Bay Area - Tips

Few people in the Bay area make anywhere near $200K/year. With that kind of salary why move to the US?
The Bay area generally is overcrowded and over priced. If that doesn't bother you then it is a...
