Another vote for Garmin. Yonks ago OH and I borrowed a Garmin and a Tom Tom from respective mates for a week; we swapped after three days, then debriefed and both considered Garmin to be the better...

My test was in the UK, Hemel Hempstead from memory, using the family car, Dad had put new brake pads on the week before my test.

It was all on road apart from the car-park exit, and before moving...
