Re: $95k in Auckland

Yep totally. I laugh at myself more than anyone else tbh!

I suppose it's the whole "not what you say, it's how you say it". Really, the words smug and JAFA could have been left out. I agree with...

Re: $95k in Auckland

Sorry Hebe, but are you aware this kind of thing is for smug JAFA's? Put your pj's on and get yourself to Pak 'n Save like everyone else!

Re: $95k in Auckland

Cheers for the info BEVS

Just an observation on my part. I really do feel avocado tastes different here. Whether that's a NZ thing or just how they have been grown/picked/packed/stored...

Re: $95k in Auckland

Yes, fair point about the corn tortillas. They wouldn't be cheap to make if on a budget. For me, I prefer the flour based ones as I'm not keen on the taste of the corn variety.

As a side note,...

Re: $95k in Auckland

When I say quality I am referring to taste and texture. One of the biggest differences for me is salad items. Tomatoes taste a lot better here (sweeter and more flavorsome), as does lettuce, avocado...

Re: $95k in Auckland

With respect, I couldn't disagree more. We love to cook and most of our meals are from scratch. Tasty healthy and wholesome meals with plenty of variety. My meal plan for this week - Thai green curry...

Re: $95k in Auckland

We eat Mexican all the time here. Fajitas are a weekly occurrence in my house :D Freshly made salsa and guacamole from scratch, tortillas and sour cream from supermarket, chicken from butcher,...

Re: $95k in Auckland

Since moving to NZ I have changed my shopping habits a little. But really I eat similar things to what I did in the UK and my shopping bill is not a huge amount higher in cost. My partner and I...

Re: $95k in Auckland

Agree, I think Bo's comment was a wee bit on the patronising side IMVHO. I don't think TL's comments were coming across as a preachy at all.

Good on ya TL, I enjoyed reading your sentiments. It's...

Re: $95k in Auckland

I can vouch for their prices! It's my local, I take a stroll there every week to stock up. Last week I stocked up on 10kg bag of potatoes, tomatoes (currently out of season!), bell peppers (hideously...

Re: $95k in Auckland

Totally subjective though and doesn't apply to everyone. We would never be able to afford the house we have now in NZ in the UK. Probably not even in 10 years time. The size, location, land size and...

Re: $95k in Auckland

I really don't think items are 2-4 times more expensive over here. If they were we would have packed up and left a long time ago, we simply wouldn't be able to afford to live. The only thing I can...
