Re: RWC - Triumph or flop?

Last week I heard on the radio that there were 200 spare tickets for the final due to some packages from overseas being returned. I jumped on the internet ... just hoping ... YES! I scored a solo...

Re: RWC - Triumph or flop?

How France won that game, I'll never know. Their sole tactic seemed to be to kick the ball and hope. Well ... I do know actually. The ref had a brain explosion when he send Warburton off. It ruined...

Re: RWC - Triumph or flop?

I think Wales vs NZ would make a great final. I hear there will be 60,000 people packed into Cardiff Arms Park this evening (morning their time) to watch the France game on big screens. It shows how...

Re: RWC - Triumph or flop?

Oh ... the horror. I turned to page 2 of the sports section of The Herald, and what do I see? A prominent article by that traitor Tana Umaga. This guy went and played club rugby in France at the end...

Re: RWC - Triumph or flop?

Quade Cooper is not a despised traitor. He kneed McCaw in the head with a cheap shot in Brisbane, causing a cut. That's what thats about. Tana Umaga is not exiled. He is revered. He came back and...

Re: RWC - Triumph or flop?

I actually love the Barmy Army. They add to the atmosphere. It's all good natured fun with them, from what I've witnessed anyway. The aussie chants were quite fun at the end of the day too. It's only...

Re: RWC - Triumph or flop?

Sure they have. Their players don't have a reputation for being the worst sledgers in cricket for nothing.

Re: RWC - Triumph or flop?

You obviously weren't at those cricket tests and one-dayers in Australia in the eighties when the chant was 'Hadlee is a wanker' by a crowd of 40,000, or when he was pelted with cans and bottles...

Re: RWC - Triumph or flop?

Apparently some Aussie supporters felt threatened by NZ supporters at the Ireland-Australia match in the weekend. That certainly isn't cool. There's always drunken louts that ruin it.

Re: RWC - Triumph or flop?

Or perhaps it's like how the French are playing a halfback at 1st-five this weekend?

Re: RWC - Triumph or flop?

Have you listened to Englishman Miles Davis on Radio Sport? He gives it to the kiwi's big time, and he seems to get high ratings. My blood is certainly not boiling.

Re: RWC - Triumph or flop?

I should probably put a thing at the bottom of all my posts saying something like : 'Just a kiwi's opinion'

I could be talking through a hole in my head for all I know. It wouldn't be the first...

Re: RWC - Triumph or flop?

The trouble is nobody knows what the 'A' team is, including, it seems, the selectors. :(

Re: RWC - Triumph or flop?

Well, I can't stand the one-eyedness of the commentators either. Mind you, if you listen to the Aussie commentators about the Northern Hemisphere style, you'll hear the same sort of thing. Rugby...

Re: RWC - Triumph or flop?

Yep, I said :
Well, if Wales can win it, I'll applaud them for it. I'll say good on them.

and I meant it. Equally, as an All Black fan, I'll be disappointed, as the English fans usually are...

But equally, if NZ win it, I say good on us !!! Why begrudge NZ something (if we win) when we have played well...

Re: RWC - Triumph or flop?

I think this video by Englishman Miles Davis of Radio Sport sums up the situation quite nicely. :D

Re: RWC - Triumph or flop?

Well ... New Zealand's only the size of a city, in terms of population. We're small. We have to fight to get some sort of recognition in the big, wide world. Rugby is something we're good at, and...
