Re: Let's talk about cars

I live in the UK now, so no issues on having data but don't want to use it all driving. Also, I primarily want the sat nav so that I can just drive with a quick glance at the screen for lanes etc and...

Re: Let's talk about cars

That's good to know. I like good visibility and hate late instructions.

Re: Let's talk about cars

I'm seeing basic Garmin models from 90 to 120 quid on sale. Basic ought to do me, I don't need bells or whistles.

Re: Let's talk about cars

Thanks.

Not sure if I have enough data to use it that way, and I also like the larger screen of the standalones. If the cheapest ones do the necessary - I really just want to know the way and get...

Re: Let's talk about cars

Buying a standalone sat nav - Garmin or TomTom? (In UK). How cheap can I get away with. I won't be buying the top of the line models.

Re: Let's talk about cars

Sorry, I know this thread is in the US forum, but incredibly there is only one car thread on BE  :scaredhair:

Anyway, since I know nothing at all about cars other than how to check the...

Re: Let's talk about cars

Question - do people selling used cars in the UK expect you to haggle on price or not? Is their asking price inevitably over what they hope to get, or exactly what they will accept? And is this...

Re: Let's talk about cars

There aren't as many of them around at my price level in the UK. Perhaps they just seem bigger than they are, particularly the estate. I drive automatics anyway (:o) so I'm never going to win in the...

Re: Let's talk about cars

Thank you all, very helpful. I'll def be looking at older models, not 2019, due to price, but not really planning to do a huge amount of driving in it. I have to fit a substantial 6' 4" husband into...

Re: Let's talk about cars

Opinions pleasenon buying a used Honda CR-V. I need a low-cost car with very good leg room and mechanically reliable, not too difficult/expensive to fix in the UK, where I now am.

Thoughts? Good...

Having driven rear wheel drives in snow and ice I can tell you that it is the most un-relaxing experience known to human kind. Never again.

Even in heavy rain they...

Re: Let's talk about cars

Right, found the list.

The convertibles might work in the sense that 6' 4" guy would just have most of his body sticking out of the top, and the Little Lion could run behind it.

Other than...

Re: Let's talk about cars

A noticeable absence of Volvos......

Hadn't thought about Mitsubishi.

I love the big old Mercedes, too. They are also cheap. but the rear wheel drive is the killer.

Re: Let's talk about cars

I currently have a 2001 Kia Sephia that is on its last legs. The engine is ok, but the body and anything else on the car that is metal is now falling off with age and rust. Welcome to the Midwest. I...

Re: Let's talk about cars

Volvos.

God's gift to safety, or an unending stream of expensive repairs?

I need to get a new used car, with good size and space. I care about mechanical reliability, soundness of body, no...
