Yes - although short of all digging Andersen shelters NOW (hands up if you know what one of those is LOL) - I'm not sure what is to be done in the event of a Ballistic Missile warning...

Wonder whose system runs the Hawaii Emergency Alerts :-(

Looks like they have put in insufficient system safeguards against human error on these...

Not quite, it can be muted, blocked etc. If enabled (and they are all enabled by default), on the smartphones that are supported then it should cut through the modern features like do not disturb,...

This is a specific notification method only open to Govt agencies - to differentiate it from normal sms/txt.

No idea why they only chose this or why...

Yep J3 or later to be supported, its not a txt msg so zero chance for unsupported and older phones, not sure why they don't do both TBH and maximise coverage that way...

Can't be (although that maybe how they appear on the device), only certain phones and eg certain iOS levels support these messages. Normal text messages would be applicable to all phones.

One wonders in what circumstances the tsunami warning Klaxon <will> be set off???

Shame as that was entirely the IT team and systems designers fault IMHO, its perfectly possible to put enough differentiation between test and production systems instead of just relying on the user...

Just hope Civil Defence's decision-making ability is vastly improved and faster - particularly in tsunami risk events...if CD turn out to be crap these alerts can't be turned off...
