Germanic folk do tend to be rather formal.The result of this can be it is difficult to come into contact.I am a great fan of Hamburg...but it is expensive to buy there.A liberating fact with regards...

Agree that especially up North it is a mixed bag.Was in Newcastle and Carisle and found a few negative comments about life in general but not to the degree that one may have expected.

Seemed to me that stores such as IKEA filled in a void for local folk which enabled them to have a place to pass a few hours..while others spend their time viewing houses for sale.

As in most countries folk in Germany still whine about declining conditions,increase in food prices,taxation and a range of other issues.
It does for the most part to my way of thinking offer a good...

Never been into a Weatherspoons..but as you say some great little pubs still exist in London and outside.

Indeed. The decline has been substantial for those of us that can recall easier days.And of the benefit for who..not your local punter it is safe to assume.

Not alone but together they would be able to command some power,one assumes, that would enable them to lobby.But in any case the time must surely come to Australia when greater competition is allowed...

For sure some good deals in Germany. That nation wins hands down when it comes to rentals and the like as well as quality but eating out cheaper in general and supermarkets similar.

Find quality of food vastly improved in the UK,with a few exceptions.Ate at some great vibby pubs around the country and came across a dud in Oxford,which did not live up to it's reputation.

Agree.UK cheaper these days for so many things.Years ago it was the reverse.
New books for example often cost what a secondhand book would cost in OZ. Eating out has become absurd at least in...

Agree. Find also most social activities in Australia not at all cheap.
