I suspect that like many people, you find it confusing and "conflicting" because you have assumed that there IS a way for you to get a work visa when in fact there is NO way for you to get a work...

Sorry, I don't see any practical way for you or your "partner" to get a visa to live and work in the US. For staters, work visas are only given for jobs where a degree is required and the applicant...
