Room 101

Re: Room 101
This is when:
Godzilla (most iterations)
Batman (all iterations)
True Grit (not that the original was bad)
Heat
War of the Worlds
Casino Royale
The Ladykillers (IMHO, although it's a close-run thing)
Young Frankenstein
I'm in two minds about Get Carter and The Italian Job.

Batman - see above
Never knew Heat was a remake
True Grit, can't agree
WotW no way, original trumps the shitty remake every time
Casino Royale, OK, will give you that one
Ladykillers - both are brilliant, watched them back to back dead heat I'm afraid
YF? No idea
As for get Carter and the Italian Job - the fact that you're in two minds is a surprise, the follow ups were rubbish compared to the originals.
Surprised no-one's mentioned Godfather 2 (not a remake but in the same vein as Italian Job 2).

Godzilla - never seen any of them. I like a good monster movie. And the original Japanese one(s) were awful.
Batman - see above The modern ones are slick.
Never knew Heat was a remake. LA Takedown. Awful. Heat's in my top 100.
True Grit, can't agree. I was impressed by the new one, despite Jeff Bridges' incomprehensibility. Hailee Steinfeld's performance was outstanding.
WotW no way, original trumps the shitty remake every time. SFX.

YF? No idea. Remake hilarious, original dull.
As for get Carter and the Italian Job - the fact that you're in two minds is a surprise, the follow ups were rubbish compared to the originals. Caine was powerful in the original Get Carter, and the film's very watchable -- typical British gangster menacing grit; but Sly's take was more rounded. The original Italian Job is a classic, no doubt, but I have a fairly low threshold for suspension of disbelief -- and although watching nearly any film requires it, in context the original pushes it too far.
Surprised no-one's mentioned Godfather 2 (not a remake but in the same vein as Italian Job 2). Not really relevant -- the Godfather series is just that: a series. The discussion's about remakes.

Both WotW films have their own good points and are very different in reality. The 1950s version has a great 50s vibe, obviously. The Speilberg/Cruise version is superb visually and it's good to see something like this from one character/family's viewpoint. I would still love to see a proper adaptation of the original HG Wells novel set in Victorian England.

Re: Room 101
Good effects but poor plot and had some many stereotypes in it. Was like a scarier missmash of the Goonies and Stand by Me.
Annoyed I spent the cash on the Reel Platinum tickets now. Although the food brought to the seats was top draw.

Adding 'sh' in front of the title would be a sufficient adjective....

He forgot the "er". Draw is as in drawing with a pencil. You keep things in a drawer in a sideboard. In fact this should go in Room 101. Along with using must of instead of must have...

Not my style....
Calm down...
I did, I admit it. Apologies.
Minor offence taken..!
Nah, they shouldn't be in 010.... they should be in 101. That place is perfect for spelling / grammer nazis. Its a forum FFS. Not all of us have time / inclination to re-read everything 2-3 times to ensure everything is tickety boo!
