NI and Tax British Citizen St Lucia
Hi me again!
Does my friend - "working" for an employer with no work permit have to pay tax and national insurance in St Lucia - if so and the work permit issue is sorted out ( see my previous thread) how does she go about getting the numbers? and if she does whilst the work permit issue is sorted out - wouldnt this highlight her plight to the authorities?
Please help

Does she get a proper pay-stub? This should show her tax deducted and NI contributions. The National Insurance Corporation requires to see your work permit and your passport BEFORE they give you a number so seeing NI deductions on a pay-stub (if there is one) suggests the money is going somewhere else???
If there is NO pay-stub Ray Charles could see that there is intention to defraud the people of St Lucia. Whether anybody cares is another matter. Again, with no stub but her knowing that she is paying for NI conts the money must be going somewhere else.
