Default Brisbane Dublin avec Car

hi there,
any advice on moving back to Dublin from Brisbane?

Is it worth bringing the car and furniture or take the easy road and sell it for what we can and start afresh in Ireland?

Problem is shipping takes 3 months - and many rental places are furnished so we may not need the furniture anyway

Car from VRT should be OK as we have lived here 6 years and had the car in our name for 3 years

thanks for any tips
cheers

I think you'd be better off selling everything, unless the car is really special. The question would be how much it would cost you to take it over?

Hi Moses2013 - cars not special, all up we have a quote for 12k + insurance to ship the lot.. we would end up saving a bit as the replacement cost is fairly high however it might just become a hindrance as most places are rented furnished or the time delay of waiting for everything is not worth it.
Anyone else have experience with this?

12K is a lot of money and if you think about it, you can get a brand new smaller type car for that money, will have 5 years warranty, roadside assistance etc. As you said, most apartments are furnished and should you consider to stay here permanently, you can buy furniture later without the stress.
