Alternative lifestyles??

Just wondered if there were any other middle aged gay or lesbian couples close by who would maybe be interested in meeting now and again?

Nope but there's a few of us going into Chueca on Friday night if you fancy a drive out (no pun intended).

I know I'm going to regret posting this, and I mean no offence whatsoever, you understand, but why would you specifically want to meet up with gay or lesbian couples? We're (heterosexual) quite interesting too you know!!!!! Intellectually, I mean:o

Good point, Fiona, why limit themselves to only gay couples?

Perhaps she´s new to the area and she might be single. Meeting up with people of her own sexual persuasion (and I hate that terminology) is a really good way of finding other friends. Living in Brighton for over 14 years, I know. from friends, how difficult it is to make friends with the so called ´straight´community.

Ok I kind of understand, & feel right to question posting what I did, however my doubt remains - if you set out only to meet gay or lesbian, is that limiting yourself to the potential exclusion of people who could include your new best friend (if you were but to meet them)?! I suppose it comes down to 'are heterosexual people generally so hard to get along with, or blinkered?' (maybe a new thread?!)

Or alternatively.....maybe the OP is a couple and would like to talk to like minded people for example.
I'm sure if the OP feels the need to tell us all about her personal life she will.

Not at all Fiona and maybe I didn´t phrase it correctly. It´s much easier for lesbian and gay people to meet heterosexual people via lesbian and gay friends. Who knows what attitude heterosexual people will have to someone if they meet them and find out they are either lesbian or gay? Some people aren´t so enlightened as we are to the fact that not all people are the same. Am I making sense here

Of course she could but that wasn't what I sought or expected. Apologies to OP if that's the impression that was given.

Re: Alternative lifestyles??

We are a hetrosexual couple, but most of the things we like to do, I would imagine, could be done by couples or groups of any orientatation, gay or straight. Most of the conversations we have, could encompass, all groups.

If the OP wants to meet gay couples, I would suggest that starting from a different starting point would be more useful, ie, looking for a gay forum with residents in their area, instead of joining a (mainly) hetro forum and hoping to find other gay couples.

I hope this post can be understood, but at least I know what I am trying to say....

Welcome to the forum, by the way

Not being funny here, but can you point the Op in the direction of a particular forum? I don´t know of any that could help.

Yes, maybe I'm just naively accepting of everyone at face value....??:(

& to be fair I don't think we'd be right to assume she joined just to meet gay couples.

I can see this thread going waaaay off topic but..........many gay/lesbian forums are swamped with people purely looking for sex and this maybe isn't what the OP wants in a forum.
p.s. nobody on here knows if this is a mainly hetro forum, we just asume it is.

Didn't mean to open a can of worms . Just want to say thanks to all poster and that we're a couple who have straight friends and certainly don't want to confine ourselves to gay friends. It's just that sometimes it's nice to be with like-minded (not sure if that's the right way to put it) people sometimes. .

I guess was just really being curious as to whether there were many other middle aged gay couples who have moved countries. I didn't join this forum with that purpose in mind but had some great advice from before our move last february and since living here. Keep the posts coming.
