It's footie also. Try Phoenix .
As I wrote..
shame that you've only got into the sport now where there isn't too much comes by in the way of teams .
... for if you have discovered a love of the game of Rugby Union earlier , then you would have highly enjoyed all the variety that was easily on offer back in the NH. From grassroots , right the way up.

Indeed not Bellasmum. Sounds very similar to here from what has been written. I take it from this that the Aussies also jeer and barrack people from other nations who may happen to be sitting in the crowd then. If so, bad as each other is what it is.

We just want to watch & enjoy the rugby . Not too much to ask really is it.

Both Mrs Buzzy (Kiwi) and I have been shocked by the vitriol we have witnessed against other teams and their supporters by the New Zealanders, even by members of her own family, reasonably respectable well-to-do farming stock.

The good to come out of this is that Mrs Buzzy has now decided to send off her Australian Citizenship application, she did not get her citizenship when me and the kids did as she was undecided, she now wants to distance herself from the behaviour of her fellow nationals......!

BEVs is right - it should all be about the game.

IMO rugby union was ruined when it went pro, it's sad that corporate greed and sponsorship over rides the right of ordinary people to support their national team without having to pay through the nose for the privilege. Have you seen the price of a match ticket or a replica jersey? Heck, they wouldn't even let the choirs stay and watch the games.

It's ridiculous that schools can't use certain words in their teaching materials, can't rent out their fields for carparking, car dealerships can't put up banners saying "go the all blacks " supporters can't even wear t shirts or hats with non-sponsorship logos on them.

The IRB and New Zealand RU should be ashamed of themselves for their money grubbing, self serving ways. They've sold out big time.

Funnily enough Mickey-D , we were also among a whole bunch of Kiwis last night. T'was a house leaving party which stopped half through for the rugby.

bad old days style rugger
You mean a hard fought battle.

It was definitely entertaining & as an English pair , we couldn't have wanted for a better ending. Scotland did great. They came out fighting & fiery & you could feel how disappointed they were at then end. We don't feel they did enough to justify winning it though.

The folk we were with were all very audible throughout the game but you could've heard a pin drop in those last few minutes which, after a couple of hours of gentle and not so gentle jibes was, I have to admit, very sweet .

No banter or chat about the game with us pair afterward though. You'd have thought there hadn't been a game.

We were with the same people we were with last week, 2 parties in one week!!!
It was a lot better watching last nights game than the AB's last week. The Kiwis we were with have a intense hatred of certain players in the AB's, must be to do with clubs they play for. When SB Williams came on the air turned blue, they don't like him at all, wierd

It was more fun last night & they were all cheering the England win, so no anti-English there.

I'm not really into rugby, so don't know much about it, but would think that a game like last nights would be far better preparation for the knock-out rounds than cruising every game like the AB's have, as was proved 4 years ago.

P.S. the air was blue here this morning when I saw the Leicester City result!!

Yeh ! it was a good game. Less like sevens and more grit. We went to watch the American v Italy game in Nelson and that was a good game too. There is a goodly contingent of Italians and Americans living in this area so they came and brought a great atmosphere with them. Wonderful hearing the two accents. Italian club was full to the gunnels afterward.

It's coz he's an athlete & originally rugby league & the feeling is he's made the AB squad for just the RWC and then after that he'll ditch the game. Or summat like that anyway. Actual rugby fans wouldn't be keen on that.

Nah, pure jealously for his well toned bod You're right though, they really don't like him, perhaps if he stays around and proves faithful it'll come right?

Had to giggle at the 6pm news last night. The music came on and the first words were 'Horror at rugby world cup'. Me and the Kiwi looked at each other fearing the worst, a stand had collapsed, a crazed gunman had massacred the crowd or some other disaster
But no! The next words were 'Dan Carter is injured and is out of the tournament...'

Absolutely no sense of irony from the newsreader

Even my NZer partner thought that was a little over the top.
