Medicals
Just a quick question regarding medicals, is there a breast examination? The only reason I ask is that one of my friends when for medical to go to OZ and she said that she had to have a breast examination but didn't think it was required so was quite shocked. If it does happen, at least I won't be shocked.
Thanks

Women
You can’t have your medical examination during your period (menstruation) because the blood can affect your results – you’ll need to wait until your period finishes before having your medical examination.
Women aged 45 and over may need to have a breast examination. Your physician will tell you if you need one.

Re: Medicals
However on one of the formsINZ1007 it states this:
So one states 'may' and the other states 'required'
There is also this from the NZIS operations manual
So if a mammogram is due then perhaps this will suffice if timely
Women aged 45 and over are required to undergo a breast examination. If this applies to you, you may nominate a specialist to perform this exam or provide the results of a recent mammogram or breast ultrasound (completed in the last six months).
You may request a chaperone to be present during the medical examination. Please advise the medical examiner if you
would like a chaperone to be present during the medical examination.

D22
Breast examination in women over 45 years of age
Examinations must be conducted with sensitivity and, in the case of a male Panel Physician, in the presence of a chaperone.
If the applicant prefers, acceptable alternatives include:
• examination of the breasts by a breast specialist
• mammogram, or
• breast ultrasound or magnetic resonance scan.
Assessment includes:
• nipple symmetry, eversion and discharge
• evidence of peau d’orange or skin changes around
the nipple
• breast lumps or cancers, and
• axillary lymph nodes.
All abnormalities must be noted. Benign breast lesions
such as fibroadenoma or fibrocystic disease do not
need to be recorded and can be ‘A’ graded if a pathology
report is sighted and attached.
Referral to an appropriate physician is necessary for
any breast lumps, nipple abnormalities or axillary
lymphadenopathy.

Re: Medicals
A recent mammogram is accepted instead of a breast examination on the day
