So that's the marina, eh?
There's a row of single storey villas. Must have been an isolated place to live back then!

Thanks, your a gem
The beach has actually got waves and unspoilt without artificial islands as far as the eye can see.
Was this taken after 2003? As I remember staying there in Aug 2003 and there was no water the marina, just large dug out holes.

Someone mentioned the Zinc club, I stayed in the Fairmont, if you were staying in the hotel, you could walk to the front of the queue show your key card and walk straight in.

Aussie legends at the old Rydges hotel in Satwa? Ah, yeah, remember the place. We used to go there along with Boston Bar nearby. Proper dives but fun times. Aussie had a pool table and Australian Sheilas bar staff. Back in those days there was a decent colony of young western expats living in Satwa/Jumeirah 1/ Bur Dubai so it was central for us.
I remember when Yalumba was the brunch and we always went to Waxy's afterwards. I even had a cheap brunch at Waxy's once. It was around 100 AED, five drinks tickets, the full English. But the place always had a sticky and grimy feel to it that you didn't notice when you came already drunk after Yalumba.
We also used to go to the Music Room to play pool and smoke and drink. They had a great Filipino band that did an amazing imitation of the Grateful Dead.

We used to live on Al Diyafah St (now 2 December St) - Rydges was our local - there was a great Mexican restaurant there too. I think it moved over to the Wafi at a later date.
