Well obviously.

I have two pairs of Docs. One cherry, for casual wear, and one black, for formal wear. Similarly, I have four pairs of Crocs: slippers, DIY, formal and plastic (bought for the beach).

Souvette has two pairs of Docs. One black patent and other floral. She is older than me. Then again, she goes to work in bright yellow tights with smiley faces on them (not sure what the generals make of that!).

Winter boots (actually hiking boots); shoes that are actually 'trainer' type but they're all black, no flashy bits and look like shoes; summer canvass, comfy but look big; another comfy pair falling apart but I like them because they look about three inches smaller than the other pair, but I only where them cycling as the soles are too thin fofr walking. So four pairs.

Flip-flops indoors.

Don't get me going on her shoe collection!

I have a reasonable number of pairs for different circumstances. She has an Imelda Marcos-style collection and most of them look the bloody same.

The daughter who used to have 99 pairs of shoes at my house and another 99 at her mother's "I do not have a hundred pairs of shoes!" has gone international. She now has a stash in Switzerland, one in Italy and, I suppose, some on her feet wherever she is this month. Her wedding, last year, featured guests apparently selected for spectacular footwear and even sideline deal making between shoe designers and distributors. Once the dancing started the floor was littered with abandoned stilettos.

This is the wrong thread as the fetishistic interest in all this footwear made me feel young, not old.

makes yer feel old? visiting old 'haunts', road trip back to uni, sitting in the same pubs (Durham for me) thinking back to watching Horslips and Caravan play live in Dunelm, getting blasted at the working men's club while trying to hit double tops, feeling old in a good way I guess... noticing your ears get 'numb' to the 'stereo' volume (guess that dates me) so quickly these days. throwing a ball and wondering if your shoulder is still attached. as said, looking in the mirror... there's an antidote, somewhere back in this thread, keep wearing jeans, docs, in fact anything you want, turn your guitar amp to max overdrive, never stop listening to music, never stop being curious

When you look at your music collection and realise that there is very little post 2000 and then realising that it was 18 years ago!

Having a few cans at the end of the working week and the sofa looking more appealing than going out on the rampage

A couple of years ago my dad became a pensioner.

When you go into a skateboard shop and they assume it's present for your child.
