The one thing this vote really demonstrates is how much the left hate democracy (not to mention the 'uneducated' working class). It's great so long as people vote their way, but should be ignored whenever anyone votes wrong.
They think that they remember what Britain was like before the EU. Most of them were not even at working age by then.

That was in a world that no longer exists.

The most amazing if that is the correct word about this vote is Wales... Net gainers from Europe to the tune of 4 BILLION POUNDS lowest amount of migration in the UK... And now Wales wants to re negotiate the barnet agreement with Westminster / the political classes which mostly wanted to remain!!!!!

Personally i think the Welsh may just be headed back down the mines but without a head torch.

As this doesn't fix anything (it may worsen a lot, lets see) the biggest question is how to fix a divided England. I've no doubt Scotland secedes and rejoins; in hindsight they got it wrong last time. NI could plausible get interested in reunification.

But England is split between a wealthy, educated, global elite in the cities and a traditional, nostalgic folk inn the countryside. The London Secedes article now has a whole lot more relevance..

With the EU, yes. With the Republic, give your head a shake! It's also far from a given that the Republic wants unification with Northern Ireland.

True. Does NI have the economic clout to go it alone (like Scotland has)- somehow I think not.

So, per my comment to magnumpy the other day about FB (his friends were all leave, my friends were all remain) my FB feed this morning is full of friends figuring out which EU passports they might qualify for.

I don't think so either. But the Republic is an economic basketcase so there's no advantage in joining it.

I'm so upset. I don't know what to say except I'm in tune with most of the comments on this thread. Too shocked to say more except what a huge mistake.

I watched the YouTube clip by Prof Michael Dougan before vote a few days ago. Did anyone else see that?

Yes, I think quite a lot of people saw that. The trouble is that he is an "expert" and in Brave New Britain you can't trust experts. What do they know?
