Canadian snowbirds with UK state pension
I know the UK state pension is frozen once you start receiving it in Canada and if you return to UK for holiday etc you can claim the increase for that period. Can you claim the increase if you snowbird in Florida over the winter as the increases are paid to UK pensioners in USA ?

The pension is NOT based on your residency for tax purposes, you can get a pension increase if you visit the UK, EU etc from Canada but NOT if you are temporarily in the USA. If you live in the USA you do get annual increases but not if your permanent address is in Canada as it would be for snowbirds otherwise we'd all be off down south for 6 months less a day each year!

There seems to be no specific mention of temporary uprating on the International Pension Centre website but here's a link to a relatively recent 'This is money' article;

Depends on when you first claimed it I guess.
A full pension (old rules) 10 years ago was £110.15 (couple rate 176.15) and is now £156.20 (£249.80). A difference of £46pw (£74). So two weeks could be worth £92 (£148). Almost $160 ($255).
Not enough to influence your decisions as to whether to go or not, but a nice dinner out when back or a bill or two taken care of..
If you're a couple on a full pension each it could be $320.
If you're on the new system introduced in 2016 the differences will be more as that "new" rate of £155.65 in 2016 is now £203.85, an extra £48 over only 7 years.
(This is why there's that other argument about the value of how much is lost ...you left 7 years ago and your pension is now £48 a week less - you lose £2,500 a year in addition to previous losses and bigger ones to come. It's literally thousands of ££....unless you went to America )

Maybe you should just think of it as "compensation", considering that you think that the US is such a terrible place to live.
And the annual increases just reflect how much worse it gets here every year!
