Have to confess that I only watched 20 minutes of the first episode on the YouTube link and got bored with it. I was just interested in seeing all the bits of Penang and seeing how many people I could spot that I knew amongst the extras.

Maybe I should be adding that the TV here in NZ is totally pants, so for us the series is a good change & I'm glad for it on a cold winter Sunday evening.

I watched every episode and thought it was a great series.
It doesn’t really get going until the 3rd or 4th episode, but after than I was hooked.
I can’t quite believe what they got away with during some of the last episodes, its racially pushing what some may not want to accept.

We haven't watched it yet.
I remember years ago --Passage to India and Jewel in the Crown on TV, both brilliantly acted. Peggy Ashcroft was in 'Passage'.
Jewel in the Crown was better than the books which I thought needed serious editing.
Lenny Henry did a great spoof--'Jewel in India's Passage'.

Wow, its even better than ever.
It's set 3 years from the end of the last series and has evolved a lot from last year.
This first episode of series 2 was better than any of last years episodes.
