So Far Renzi has saved the state nothing, in fact the money for the 80E in perpetua must still be found. The spending for the regions has already passed that of last year with 6 months yet to go. There are obviously arses to be saved amongst some PD or FI mayors/regional presidents and that is why Immunity "Must" be given to the new Senators!!
Give him enough rope..................... He is fast becoming the laughing stock of Europe, obviously following the footsteps of the chief Buffoon, and he was the equivalent of the Irish for Chinese jokes.

Thanks for that Maybe1day.

That's, why, looking at things from outside, I was puzzled by the 80E thing. One day it was my understanding that it had been announced but sources for funding/budget balances were being looked for, the next thing I find that it had gone ahead so I assumed that the costing had been sorted.

But you say it hasn't/wasn't. Interesting.

If true (note Maybe1day - I'm not arguing - enough oddball stuff on here) this to me sounds suspiciously like a scheme where you have a give-away, get folks to vote for you in a European (not Italian) election then tell Europe it has to square the circle in some way because, surprise surprise, you are (if possibly only momentarily) really popular back home because of said tax give-away and the fact that you haven't ruffled any feathers back home by actually doing anything about the provinces or actually doing anything very much.

Thanks again for the info, getting things back on track.

A puzzled outsider.

With enough rope one can do many things, such as knotting it into a noose....
etc.

Looking for anything changing..., sorry maybe next time, just look the ''punishment'' for those involved in the Mose's scandal.
BTW was not a very large amount of funding given by the EU ? Are the money that were taken going to be given back to the EU and its taxpayer ? I think not !

Part of the money was supposed to come from the sale of state property, a flop by all accounts, and savings in public expenditure (running away). For this year the 80E will cost around 8Billion and next year 14Billion.
The famous blue cars according to the media are now more than ever and more expensive models too. Renzi appears to be going around in a "cheapo"
Maserati.

Wanna bet that PDers involved that are not yet indicted will form part of the new Senate?

What renzi needs to do is curb tax evasion. He could do with some advice from Ann Robinson, Gary Barlow OBE and maybe have a look at the liberty tax scheme. That would go a long way toward solving Italy's tax problem...

You should consider that the people getting this money are in a dire strait situation, so all this money will suddently return back in the economy.

Of course it's not the solution of any problem, but it's a good start considering it's the first tax lowering in decades of those people.

That's the point, but the tax evasion is so widespread it's impossibile to stop, it's millions and millions pof people living on top of this situation, they could easily found a party and win the elections.

And it happened in fact.

Italians could stop tax evasion tomorrow if they really wanted to, just stop doing it or coniving with it . Mr B passed a number of laws making it easier and softening up the penalties plus the '' condoni '' allowing millions of unpaid tax to be swept under the carpet. The GDF's budget keeps being cut and their numbers reduced . Anyone who does get caught acts like they are the victims of a police state .

According to the consumers association due to increased taxation etc. they only have an extra 15E in their pockets and this will be eaten up before the end of the year. True it would have been worse without it but is still has to be paid for. If the Lira was still there they could have printed some and got inflation started again. The ever growing public debt and civil servants will bring him down because he has not got the courage or experience to do anything that will really make a difference. I understand that even in Firenze he did not make any earthquakes but he was nice and talks, and talks nicely too....................

Italy has one of highest taxation in Europe, how do you expect small companies to survive if they had to pay all tax due?

If the Lira was still there when Berlusconi was at the power we would have been fuc*ed at least 9 years ago.

Print money means in other words to give less buying power to the money already around, just like any wealth tax.
It can never be a solution in the long run, in Italy we know it very well.
