Well those of us who like lounging on the beach in October and November do! And then really good Nero d'Avola at 1.50 Euros/LITRE.
Just such fantastic weather here too at this time of year. Bouts of rain but thats nice as you get a clear view of Etna.

From how far can you actually see Etna?
Its in plain view from Enna!
Etna is one of the main reasons I am here.
My first visit to Sicily was in May 2006 and I remember it being 30c and having a morning / early afternoon on the beach and then driving up Etna and seeing 15feet of snow!
We walked to the top, rather than use the Unimog - amazing day rounded off with dinner in Taormina - amazing

Re: Europe / Italy / Sicily?
Has anyone here actualy skied etna ?
I did ask before but think it got overlooked.
We are both big skiers but thought moving back to europe and sicily would mean going back to the 1 week ski vacations when ever we can and costing lots of $$$ but then finding out there was skiing on etna was like the icing on the cake , but then we havent actualy met anyone who has even heard of skiing in sicily never mind actualy done it.

Kirysta,
I have never skied on Etna but have been up to the top and was at the ski lift car park earlier this week.
I go up Etna fairly regularly as you can often drive through the clouds and have sunshine on a rainy day
Acitrezza is not far from Etna 41ks from apartment at sea level to the Main carpark at 1900metres
I can ski but certainly am not good, only just past snow plow level - but would certainly be up for skiing on this crazy mountain. James Bond style with the smoke billowing out the top
Just had a look at the link
AFTER 2001 and 2002 eruptions the ski runs are not fully rebuilt!!
IT IS OPEN THOUGH - DECEMBER TO MARCH -

Not far away from me - I am 6ks north of Catania (I do not ever go into the city though - just too big and driving in the provincial towns is bad enough!)
Anything worth seeing down your way?
I have been to Augusta, that is a nice place

Re: Europe / Italy / Sicily?
Sorry 6 months ..... hope the curry doesn't work out as expensive as I think it might be.
Actually - the good thing about spices is that they last a long, long time so I'm sure you'll be able to get your money's worth and your curry's worth.
Have fun cooking and eating.

Price does not enter the equation - I am an addict - I know this -
Plus, its bound to be cheaper than what I was planning, which was a trip to London!
