Skilled migration
Hi all !
My partner is a trained plumber so we would be able to apply for a skilled migration.
My question is do you need to still be in the profession on your application for visa , and do you need to work in said profession once arriving in aus ?
Only asking as my partner no longer works as a plumber and doesn't want to return to plumbing if possible .
Many thanks
Xay

Re: Skilled migration
You'll need 12/36 to apply for a skilled visa - that is, 12 months full time paid plumbing work in the last three years - this is required for the skills assessment.
Also, if you are planning state sponsorship then individual states have their own work experience requirements.
With any skilled visa, there's no requirement to work in your nominated occupation once you arrive in Australia, although most tradespeople tend to do so.
Regards,
Richard
