Congrats Chobert! That's great for you. Kinda reinforces my belief that London is sexist and processes men faster though.

Congrats! Is it okay to be envious, I feel slightly green

Lethe, I'll do a comparison with you. See who has the shorter wait.

Should be in my sig now.
We started the process early 2009, decided to wait till we got married upon the advice of our lawyer (we had been together for 5 years).
Married Sept 19, 2009.
The rest should be in my sig below

Why did he advise you of that? I assume you'd lived together for a portion of that? If it was 12 consecutive months you could have applied through common law!
We are 13 days apart so we'll see what happens.

He said typically they do less of a check on married couples than common-law couples.
We were already planning on getting married, so it wasn't that much of a problem...just it wasted some time.

I guess that's true but with 5 years worth of relationship I don't think you would have had much of a problem.
We are all crossing our fingers now eh? I'm bored of being a housewife.

haha yup, if we had kids it would be different, or a palatial mansion to clean but our little apartment is immaculate and hubby has dinner/lunch'breakfast/coffee ready whenever he wants it! Secretly I think he doesn't want my PR to come through!

That's great news scents but think you got the wrong thread, there's another one for FSW's news.
