Hi All,

New to this but we sent off our spousal application two weeks ago only for it to be returned today . The cover letter stated not compliant with the Immigration & Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR) Sections 10 & 11 - After reading through and checking the Checklist (IMM5533) - Part A number 1 was highlighted - I hadn't ticked the box to say that I had included the Checklist - this was one of the two pieces highlighted.
The next part was under Section 7 - Proof of Relationship to Sponsor - Under this section I included a copy of our council tax bill showing both our names - Acceptable? The other was a copy of the land registry title showing both our names under section B of the Title - Proprietorship of Register - We live in a ground floor flat that is part of a building that was converted into 3 flats. Each of the 3 owners are freeholders of the building. So the register has a few names on it (other 2 freeholders) but clearly on the second page states me and my wife - Surely this is satisfactory??
We are so disappointed as we feel we have failed at the first hurdle . We were so careful to follow and include all doc's - Anyone else had a similar experience? Does CIC know what Council Tax is?
Any help appreciated

Don't get disheartened, we had ours returned a few times due to things being in the wrong format and job end date even though I was still working Lol, put it down to a learning experience, gather yourself and resubmit you'll get there in the end

Wow that seems harsh... unlucky.

Good luck with the resubmission. Just power through the disappointment and send it right back straight away

Really frustrating and unlucky that you had the package returned. Don't let it get you down, though - CIC is just really stickler for a lot of these little specifics. So just make the changes noted and resubmit and hopefully you'll be ok. Use the links that Siouxie provided as well, as they will give you some great guidance and ensure you've done things right.

That really sucks! Rumour has it that they are being a lot 'pickier' these days!
