Even then i'm not sure it's worth the expense, unless it was a denied spouse application perhaps - the application is very straight forward and past unrelated immigration issues shouldn't impact proving your relationship or finances. My husband just got his in 30 days and was once denied a visa (different category) and then later refused entry at Heathrow.
