Banks & Money Transfers to UK
Hi - long time viewer here/first time poster!
I have been accepted for employment in Cayman starting later this year. I will be arriving mid-August and was wondering about the following:
Is it possible to open a Cayman bank account whist still in UK?
Failing that, is it possible to open an account without a Cayman address?
My problem i think will be, I will be getting a relocation allowance paid into my bank. This relocation allowance will be required to rent a property.
If I don't have an address, can I open an account. If I can't open an account I can't get my relocation allowance!:thumb down:
Bit of a chicken / egg / vicious circle situation brewing I think.
Finally, would anyone know a cheap/safe way to transfer money back from Cayman into UK banks?
Thanks !

Is it possible to open a Cayman bank account whist still in UK? very doubtful
Failing that, is it possible to open an account without a Cayman address? Usually not
If I don't have an address, can I open an account. If I can't open an account I can't get my relocation allowance! What usually happens is that newcomers don't rent a place without being here, and their employers lend them the money they need to pay things like rental deposits etc. Have you asked your employer about any of this?
Finally, would anyone know a cheap/safe way to transfer money back from Cayman into UK banks? Queue up at the bank and tell them where to send it. That's what all expats do.

Hi and thanks for your reply.
My employers have told me if no account can be opened they will give me a cheque instead.
Unless it's a cheque I can cash, with ID.
Thanks anyway - will prolly have a few more questions once the idea has settle in!
