The Census

Re: The Census
I'll be filling it in and providing my name. All useful information for when people in the future go looking for their ancestors. I built a family tree recently and was disappointed in the poor record keeping on the west of Ireland from 150 years ago.

Re: The Census
While I conceed that he does have a point, the way I see it most government agencies already have my data several times over - Medicare, ATO, AEC, local Council, RTA etc etc. They already share information - I can see very little point in witholding my name from them.

I'll be filling mine in.
And then, later in the month, I'll be traipsing round the streets to encourage others to fill in theirs, too.
There's a load of aging hippies here, no doubt there'll be resistance.

Re: The Census
They should also be banning the likes of google, apple, mickeysoft from doing it as well.
They have massively screwed up this time by thinking they can push things further than before, at a time when people are getting more and more worried about privacy and identity theft. In consequence they aren't going to get trustworthy data, making it useless for statistical purposes. Heads should roll, should have already rolled.
I've just filled out mine, bypassing many of the nastiest questions. First browser didn't work; I hate to think what it will be like tonight.

Teen does not want to give name, says he could be alive n kickin in 99 years. And he could! But as a student he cant afford the fine. The kids were saying too not everybody at uni identifies as male or female. Other options for transgender intersex , apparently already on some forms.

Re: The Census
From reports coming in it looks as if their servers are having hassle just for the spike of those completing the census in their lunch hour. Quite what it will be like this evening if they really haven't scoped properly will be entertaining to watch...

Re: The Census
I'm all in favour of going electronic for things like this but this government are just adding to their bad reputation of being able to do these things. They absolutely knocked the crap out of Medicare. All for cost cutting too. No proper implementation plan for any of it.

Re: The Census
Considering the whole marriage inequality bullshit, why, when I've put my name and sex in and then put my husband's name and sex in, did it then ask if he was my husband/wife when the other questions were altered or removed based on previous answers.

Re: The Census
The question is simple - no matter what you identify yourself as, you are still a man or a woman
People need to get a grip

Re: The Census
You're still a man or a woman but I hear what you are saying and that this could apply to a tiny, tiny minority of people. The vast majority of people making a big deal out of this are male or female
