still could be worse. british ex pats spanish forum.
What i find odd on here, probably the a language issue, is how little Expats on this site, and others don`t seem to be disscussing the Spanish economy.
Everyday I watch the news in Spanish and its scary, not only the fact of the situation but the lack of understanding of how the situation occured and can be resolved.
An example is yesterday one minister announces that Seguridad Social will run out of funds within the year, others announcing he`s incorrect etc etc.
300,000 people currently in Spain have had there unemployment/social payments finished and receive no financial help from the govt.
OK Expats probably not to affected by this until maybe a father with 3 kids starts using crime to pay the bills in desperation.
In most Spanish cities large queues form outside charity food kitchens to feed the poor, these are not homeless drunks, but families with children that last year had resonable jobs.
2-3 years wait to turn around Spain, no chance, Spain has the highest unemployment level and fastest growing of all EU countries, the world crisis affecting Spain more because of greed, that will take longer than 10 yrs to resolve.

Purely guessing, but there are probably a lot of expats in Spain who aren't too interested in the unemployment situation because they are already retired and living off albeit dwindling pension income. I'm not sure how many of the people on the Spanish forum that would apply to but I'd guess a far higher percentage than the Aus forum.

Mr Rudd said seven of Australia's 10 largest trading partners were in recession.
'The severity of the global recession has made it impossible for Australia to avoid a further period of negative economic growth,' he said.
Mr Rudd says the severity of the global financial crisis has made it impossible for Australia to avoid a second quarter of negative economic growth.
The CBI forecast that UK unemployment would peak at 3.25 million in early 2010.

growth... in 2010... hmmmm it's almost 2010 already
time flies when you're having fun, before you know it it's 2010 and the economy will have gone into official depression, more unemployed, more mortgagee sales etc..
Do you really believe the 'specialists' that never saw any of this coming ?
Or would you rather make up your own mind and think that perhaps 2010 is a 'little optimistic' ?... to say the least ?
Oh wait... a negative attitude is bad... we need to think positive
One thing I can say about people forecasting 2010 as the end of the recession : Bullshit.

Myself, I think there are too many experts saying different things, and with things being so changeable, who knows what is around the next corner.

like scamp said "experts"...... they didnt see it coming, so how do they know when its going to end and how much turmoil in between.
the uk is shot, and i think australia are the last of the major nations to go into recession. Mr Rudd has said its on its way.

The situation is much improved...although Qld now has one of the highest unemployment rates in Australia (equal highest with NSW) - seemed to fare worse than most. The Gold Coast looks close to the national average though.
