The only recent experience I've had with UK recruiters has been the number of times you have to ask to be removed from the emailing lists and other contact. I think I must have told half a dozen recruiters within the same company that they should take me off their contact lists - and told them more than once.
I fear my experience of Europe , Australia and North America puts the vast majority of recruiters in the second hand car category with a volume mentality to put people up for roles (irrespective if they are suitable) in order to meet their respective quota for the month.

The only exceptions have been a few like Korn Ferry who are specifically tasked with searching for candidates and so put some effort in to build relationships for the now and the future.
