- Daddy if we move to Australia where vodka costs $50 instead of $20 in UK does this mean you will drink less??
- No, sweetie, it means you will eat less.
Based on a Russian joke.
Alcohol price is not necessarily representative, it may depend on the alcohol policy in the country. Banana costs were affected by floods.
Family of 3 in Perth need around 250 aud on food per week.
Decent house is 450-500 aud per week.
Dont know , I didnt compare but with all respect I doubt London is 1/3 cheaper than Perth.

Money aside, the other question? how much do you ( the OP ) really want to live in Perth.
Some love it and just as many accept its simply not for them.
Its the sort of place you are either going to love or go mad in after 6 months.
Another thing, just IME, 130k in OZ is seen as a pretty high salary, (its not its V expensive here) but as its seen as high, you are requred to work LONG hours for it, 60 hours a week IME.
Does not leave much time for beaches and the heat thing, having a holiday in 35+ may be nice, it does not suit so many as something to endure day in and day out.
Just some thoughts as its not all about money.

And I did say in my first post that it is perfectly possible to live on $130k. I feel you have taken me slightly out of context as my point is really that £81k is not comparable to $130k and I would stand by that, LAFHA or no LAFHA.

It wasn't a dig, just a relection on the fact that $130k pa is a bloody good wage for most people.

Umm yes, if you were coming on holiday or transferring money then you are absolutely correct. But if you are talking about a salary then it is very stupid to assume that £81ksalary is equivalent to A$126k salary.
We currently have a historically low FX rate. If someone took an income at 1.56 x their UK salary they are going to really struggle because expenses are going to be a hell of a lot more than 1.56 times the GBP equivalent.
