yes that is quicker (by one whole character), but you are assuming the the recipient knows what GBP means also if the recipient is un-aware of your location hence doesn't know you don't have a £ button, they'll be thinking "who's this flash git with his GBP, why didn't he just use the £ sign.

Not on the Aus boards - most people look at the pound sign and think - they've got a UK keyboard, must be in the UK, not seen one of those for years
