I'm not sure what state you are in, but admin roles are getting more and more difficult to come by now. As I said on a previous thread it took me 6 weeks, over 100 applications and 13 interviews before I got offered a job. And it's not exactly the dream job I would have been offered a year ago.

I do think it depends on the level and type of work you are looking for. Truck driving is certainly a lot different kettle of fish than specialised IT. As for nurses, it doesn't matter where in the world they go there are jobs.

The main thing is you have got a job. Congratulations

Re: Jobs in Oz
UK Unemployment Definition:
Official estimates of unemployment are produced by the Office of National Statistics (ONS) based upon the ILO (International Labour Organization) definition. - http://www.statistics.gov.uk/CCI/nugget.asp?ID=165
ILO Standards are:
A person who is both working and seeking work is classified as employed,
and a student who is attending school and also seeking work is classified as unemployed.
One corollary of the priority rules is that employment always takes precedence over other activities, regardless of the amount of time devoted to it during the reference period, which in extreme cases may be only one hour - http://www.ilo.org/wcmsp5/groups/pub...cms_088394.pdf

No jobs in Canada
Damn my ill informed guess has been discovered
On a serious note this downturn is a worldwide thing. So far in the multitude of job opportunity threads the vein is the same work is hard to come by in 2009 no matter where you live. Chances are if you have the skills to migrate to Oz you are perfectly as employable in the UK as here.
If someone says what everyone on the UK side want to hear; that is "There are loads of Jobs in Oz" chances are the rest of us on here are going to savage them in writing till they whimper off whelping like a banished pack dog as we know its just not true. We have the piles of countless CV's to show for it and wasted days sat trawling though seek, mycareer, careerone with outlook sat open and one eye on the mobile waiting for employment.
I started looking for work in November I have my first permanent job this week and I am one of the shorter ones. That's 4 months of looking for work with no cash coming in rent and bills to pay and a lot of worry. My savings have been hit harder than George bests first liver. This is the preparation that's involved.
If anyone is thinking of migrating to look for work, those days are gone. I should know we Irish we invented the whole migrate to work thing.
You can still live in Australia its just harder
