Re: ...got me'sen a 'ute mate!
Best ute I've ever seen, mate - almost as good as the Bonneville ute I used to have in my late teens (after I sold the BSA ute!)
Great to hear you are settling in well & having fun, Leigh. Long may it last.
Cheers,
Anya (another newbie in Oz: my 10th week in Melbourne!)

Hi leigh
Good to see you back online.
Sounds like you've settled in OK and got your priorities sorted by buying the bike.
Look forward to reading more posts.

Scutter ...a few words in your ear...
your post had me scrambling to see what kind of ute you had - as in *4* wheels!!!
Come back when you have one.
PS Congrats. Let us know how you get on with the Sheilas.

Hi Leigh,
I'm moving out to Canberra in Jan - just wanted to say thanks for the pics and for sharing you're news - keep us posted.
You've definately put my mind at ease - but if you could check out the pubs then I would be eternally grateful (glaswegian girl).

Yes, it varies between being very warm & very chilly here in Melbourne - luckily we both brought *all* our clothes, so are well set up on the junper front!
Have fun in Canberra, & hope you can make it down here sometime.
Cheers,
Anya.

hi Kristine
never feer i shall do my best to keep you updated. Still spending most of my time working so all i can say for now is this flat is bluddy freezing!! it's 25 degrees outside and i'm sat here with my jumper and denim jacket on... ok that might have something to do with me feeling poorly again. (blah)
trevglas - i'm in pearce, just down the road, or one of them, from kambah. 5 mins ride from woden and 5 mins walk from the BMW dealer.
Btw, we just had 2 full days of rain so i've been a bit soggy lately. then the guys at BMW rang me this morning to say the waterproof liners for my suit are here... as i mentioned earlier, it's 25 degrees blue sky and perfect biking weather today. that's probably where i got my cold from thinking about it.
anywa gotta go, i should be working..... grrrrr..
Graham, PP1 cheers guys. i'll keep you all updated! Sue... where are you?

Hi, love the bike and good to see you back on line. It looks the same type as Ewan McGregor and his mate went round the world one.
Would love to get one myself when I get to Perth, thats if I've got any money left after Jill has spent it all on the house !! LOL
Keep posting, its certainly giving me a different outlook on Canberra. I have just finished the Bill Bryson chapter in his Down Under book and your post certainly brings some of it to life.
Watch out for those Brown snakes though...... :scared:
Best wishes
Warren
Perth on Thursday......Yippee !!

Re: ...got me'sen a 'ute mate!
morning all. well it's sunday today and it's pissiting it down!! glad i don't have to go anywhere today, i think even the beemer would object to going out there in this.
warren, you're right it's the exact same one, well same model anyway. It was built for all this adventure touring malarky, you know going off round jungles and things.... i thought it would be the perfect bike for canberra then! hehe. The only thing i'd say against the bike is it's size. i'm a 6 footer and i can just touch down with the ball of both feet and with the side cases on it takes a bit of effort to swing my leg that far over! i'll be doing the splits like a pro before i know it. The weight of the bike fully loaded with fuel is a killer too! it's got a 30!!! litre tank on it. when you think my old vectra used to take 40 litres from reserve to full it sort of puts it in to perspective. Still the funny thing about it is i've only had to fill it up once since i got it! I get about 600Ks to the tanks... not bad eh.
chris, yeah i knew canberra was a cold place, but it's not that it's this flat. it's the only place i've lived in where i'm opening the windows to let some heat IN! Sat here working on the laptop all day freezes my bits off after a few hours. bring on the summer i say!
and last but not least, sue! erm, never got your texts luv. the last one i got from you say "only 550!! slack!" haven't a clue what it meant though as it's the last message in my in box. glad to here things are moving forward again! PM ya later.
well thats all folks. sorry it's a boring one.
