Canberra has a very healthy climate. Summer daytime highs are typically in the 25-35 degree range. Nights are almost always pleasantly cool - it's very rare that the overnight low stays above 20 degrees. Even when the temperature goes above 35 degrees (maybe a dozen times per summer), the humidity is low and its bearable. On the really hot days we often get a cool change that comes in from the ocean in the late afternoon. The temp can drop 15 degrees in half an hour - feels like the big fella upstairs has flicked the air con switch.
Summers in Canberra are close to perfect, although a bit more rain would be nice.

Its not hot all year round only during summer , In Tasmania its in the 20's c degress level most of summer only get one or two days a year over 35c degrees. Someone mentioned Canberra does'nt get hot and Melbounre Doesnt get as hot as the other mainland cities, but last summer was a record hot one there. Tasmania is the best place in OZ if you don't like hot weather, with those cold Antartic winds blowing in.
l think as long as you have air conditioning and you don't have a job where to have to work outdoors the hot OZ summers are nothing to worry about. If its 42c degrees and you travel in an airconditioned car to an airconditioned office then home to an airconditioned house with a swimming pool its not too bad. Alot of people spend all winter looking foward to the hot weather and the beach.

It's been great here so far. Yesterday was a bit warm (we have two little kids and anything above 35 it's a bit toasty for them).
I'd rather be here than at home at the moment where they had their first winter storm of the year...20cm snow, -20C for a high temp.
And summers back home aren't much either. We get maybe 3-4 months of decent temps (around 20-25C) and plenty of rain during that time. Then it's 6 months of winter and snow. No thanks.

Now we have to use twice as much energy. Heating in winter and aircon in summer. That ozone is getting bigger!! wheyyy more sun....

In particular, don't go out in the noon day sun without a tin hat.

Much rather be hot than cold......hate being cold!
As OP posted 30 plus is the norm in Spain on your Med hols but then I guess you aren't living/working normally in it. I did find the few times I went to Singapore for work it was very different to being on hols.....being sticky in a suit/posh dress! The real big heat does slow you down so you just have to work with it etc.
Although I would say in the original posters defence that 2 years ago we did a road trip around WA and it was flipping hot all the time both North and South - even Pemberton reached 40 on the day we arrived (all the locals were moaning so it's not just Poms!). It did spoil some of the trip as we had to limit walks etc.
It's easier to cope with the heat if it's dry we found ourselves struggling on a hot day in the UK this year because of the humidity! You don't get to say that very often........

Well, it is a beautiful day up here in the tropics, not too sticky & a lovely breeze.
The Caribbean has a pretty near perfect climate if you really fancy a change though!

Perth is a Mediterranean climate, didn't you know or something? You will get very hot there doing summer! and there's more more to Australia than Perth, many different climates.

A cool day this time of the year at Tennant Creek. Long sleeves and trousers weather.
