Buying a House - some questions please
Hi Guys
Many of you have bought or built houses - we are getting to that stage we need to buy a house. We've been here in Qld for nearly a year and feeling settled with a good job etc, excellent schools.
So he question - is we want to buy a house.
Benefits are the First Home owners grant.. but someone said we as new PR's could only buy a new build ( to stimulate the economy).
I can't find any info on this - or which government dept to approach.
What's your experience on this issue?
Regards
Garry

I think you may be getting confused with the FIRB (Foreign Investment Review Board) rules, which don't apply as you are PR. For all information on the grant, see here: http://www.osr.qld.gov.au/client-gro...er/index.shtml

If this is your first house in Australia you qualify for the first home owners grant.
If this is your first house in the world you qualify for purchase stamp duty concessions.

As a PR you can buy anything you want and you do get the first time owners grant. You don't need to approach any government departments......just a real estate agent
Happy hunting!
