I rarely touched lager in the UK until a year in Australia converted me. Now I find warm bitter undrinkable.
Coopers all the way for me, too.

You can get Coopers Ale in my town here in Wicklow. 2.50e a bottle. Love Coppers, from my time down under in the 90's.

Yup that stuff is extortionate. Hubs was on a bucks night last week at the exford and was getting in the first round - they were charging $12 a pint for fat Yak there. He said it was funny how when it came to the next round suddenly everybody started drinking VB etc...

Despite the complaints, there is a fair amount of drinkable beer both on tap and bottled. You'd have to be unlucky to not be able to set a course away fron the really questionable ones.

The trouble is when drinking in pubs and bars gets so expensive you end up with only the young going out, sensible adults with mortgages, kids blah blah just cannot afford to go out on a regular basis and thats a shame, fewer sensible adults means less decent venues and bars just end up catering to the lowest denominator, the young, who will always find money to get off their faces.

Lovely beer yumnot really a session beer though, three or four &................ whoops
I missed the real beer [CAMRA member] when I first got here. It took me a while to switch onto the better Aussie beers, of which there really are loads of nice ones. Squires IPA or Amber ale are good on draught. Coopers make loads of good drinkable beers. Beez Neez is another nice drop
Little Creatures Pale ale is my current favourite I'm currently into my third knock off drink mind the O/H did use half the first for a shandy sacrilege!
